USE IN COMBINATION WITH OUR OUTDOOR CAR COVER FOR FULLY WATERPROOF.
Our polyester woven textile is 90% waterproof (and therefore breathable), according to testing to BSI standards. To all intents and purposes this would be 100% waterproof when stretched across a frame, for example an umbrella.
The cause of water ingress is wicking, which can occur when a fabric comes in to close contact with a smooth surface, for instance car bodywork.
Because of the breathability (which allows any moisture to evaporate from under the cover), this is a satisfactory condition for almost all circumstances, and certainly means that sweating will not occur.
If you want a higher level of waterproofing without losing breathability, we recommend using one of our under-covers, which will raise the waterproofing level from the standard 90% to 99%.
By the way, you cannot have both 100% waterproof (eg pvc, other plastic) and breathability (certainly not on a car, perhaps on a human body), its a complete contradiction !
Our range of Under-Covers is usually supplied from stock held in our own warehouse and the covers are usually despatched within 2 working days. 80% of the orders we receive (generally before 4pm) are despatched the day we receive the order.
Technical Information
The outer half of the Under Cover system is made from a 250D* woven textile, proofed with an aluminised finish to reflect ultra-violet sunlight and heat. We control the specification of the proofing to ensure 90% water proofing without losing the breathability.
The inner most of the two covers that make up the Under Cover system is manufactured using a lightweight silky nylon textile with acrylic proofing to render the material truly dustproof. The cover is breathable, and can be easily washed.
It is the combination of these two covers when used together that gives the complete waterproofness and yet remains a breathable cover system.
* D=Denier, the thickness of the thread used to weave the textile.
Optional Extras
- For dealing with the wind - severe wind conditions, whether man-made or nature's own, place a tough demand on any cover. You can deal with it in one of two ways, depending on the cause.
- A trailering net will prevent a car covering billowing at high speeds and can be secured to your trailer with luggage elastics.
- Elastic straps while parked. The straps totally encircle the car (unlike an integral underbody strap which buckles to the cover) and, because they are elastic, provide a suitable tensioned grip without strain.
- Mirror and Aerial Pockets.
- Upgrade the fit of your cover to virtually fully tailored with these pockets which are designed to fit over wing or door mounted mirrors or non-retractable aerials. Fit them yourself or use our fitting service.
- Wheel covers.
- Designed for use on wheels on the car, they can also be used as a spare wheel cover, whether hidden inside the car or installed on a tailgate. Enhance the anonymity of your car, so increasing the theft-deterrent value of your cover.
- We have a section devoted to wheel covers. Order your wheel covers here.
